Pick of the Bunch started out in 1997 as Ploughmen's Bunch with six members.

Now there are just two of us...

"Ploughmen's Bunch played together for twenty years as a ceilidh band supporting local events in numerous village halls and further afield including gigs in Yorkshire, Norfolk and Texas! "Pick of the Bunch" carry on the tradition and  play within Lincolnshire using traditional tunes to support informal occasions including fund raising events and coffee mornings.

We also write and record our own material - all available for purchase from this website.

Profits from sales of CDs and downloads will be donated to Lincolnshire & Notts Air Ambulance.

I wrote this moving melody with the Lincolnshire landscapes in mind.

"Lindum Lament"

My latest instrumental composition written during lockdown in 2020.

"Eagles and Swallows".

From left, Paul, Dave, Mel, me, Anne and Steve.

Our CDs were produced and recorded at the University of Lincoln under the watchful eye of Bryan Rudd. As well as  ceilidh music, we recorded several original songs and instrumentals penned by Steve, Paul and myself. Most of our rehearsals took place in the village of Nettleham, and so I sat down and  wrote "Nettleham Rag"

"Topsy Turvy Blues is a kaleidoscope of bluesy riffs  written back in 1985.

"Bouncy Castle Rag" started out as a bunch of mistakes, but it soon turned into a catchy melody.

"Lancashire Farewell" is a tribute to my home county and the seven miles of beach at Blackpool

"Mel's Medley" showcases Mel our talented fiddle player, playing four lively melodies all in one take.

Lockdown in 2020 gave me time to write a piece to cheer us all up!

"Nettleham Rag"

Then I discovered a music score in my late brother's music files. Here is my demo recorded with a little help from my friends at   SCAMP studios. (UK)
